GOLDEN JUBILEE INSTITUTE FOR MAKING BLIND SELF-SUFFICIENT
The Baroda Association for the Blind was inaugurated on 24th March 1964 by Shri Mehdi Nawab Jung, the governor of Gujarat, the sponsorer of The Baroda Association for the Blind is The Lions Club Of Baroda (Main).
The main motive of the people of Lions Club of Baroda (Main) was to serve the blind. The other motive was to serve the society by providing them free eye checkup every year.

The Baroda Association for the Blind was inaugurated on 24th March 1964 by Shri Mehdi Nawab Jung, the governor of Gujarat, this association was a standalone innovative project as there was no other place in the city & surrounding areas where a blind could stay & learn how to earn for him & his family, the sponsorer of The Baroda Association for the Blind is The Lions Club Of Baroda (Main).

A few details about the club like membership: Lions Club Of Baroda has 67 members, 3rd oldest age in the District. The date of the charter is 6 Jan 1957 & has 25 Permanent Projects esp. The Baroda Lions Club Education Trust-63yrs, The Baroda Association For the Blind-60yrs, A Guide for Medical Services in Baroda-56yrs old, Lions Club of Society of Baroda-67yrs old. Lions Hall & Lawns-43yrs. Girls Toilet Blocks in Schools, Mother Milk Bank, Lions Shatabadi Garden, Lions Club of Baroda Wellness & Rejuvenation for seniors at Sakaria. Eye Checkup tablets, Diabetes Association of Baroda, etc.

Any other activity: Lions Club of Baroda Pragnachakshu 5 states music and cricket competition is held every year.
All participants will be paid monthly stipend by Lions Club Society of Baroda & the tutor will be blind for both academies & they will be paid remunerations & trainees for the sports academy will be blind & for the music academy trainees will be sighted & blind & Sports academy sighted tutor will help for smooth running. National level trainers are selected for the academics & national Champion have also registered for training.
What is done: Two Academies started to impart sports training to Pragyachakshu in Shotput, Discus, javelin throw, Chess, Football, and Cricket, training will be provided free of cost & training will be imparted for vocal singing, tabla, drums, keypads, harmonium, guitar, classical music, etc & normal citizens will also be trained at nominal fees & this projects will give income to Pragyachakshu and they can participate in various competitions at local, state, national, international including para Olympics.

How many people it will benefit: Every year almost 150 Pragyachakshu will be trained.

Other details: The Baroda Association For The Blind & Lions Club Of Baroda have been jointly organising 5 State Pragyachakshu music Competition for men & women and Pragyachakshu 5 State Cricket Tournament and Gujarat State Chess Tournament and Sports Competition for Pragyachakshu for Gujarat State. For the last 15yrs and has given national-level, players to the country and recently Pragyachakshu CA. Darpan Inani was facilitated for winning Para Asian Games Gold Medals in Chess and has been inspiring to the Chess competents he is an alumnus of the club’s school Baroda High School Alkapuri. Our trained Pragyachakshu musicians have their own bands and orchestras and they are earning lacs of rupees.
Future plans about the project: to hold the national level Championship of Pragyachakshu and start the Pragyachakshu Crickret Association of Baroda.

To teach the computer to blind boys in a professional way, The Baroda Association for the Blind had inaugurated E-Computer Training Center on 01/05/17. There are 8 computers in AC furnished computer room. Nowadays, with the advent of text to speech technology, computers have become accessible to persons with vision impairment as well. With the help of voice output, a visually impaired person can easily work on Windows, MS Office, Internet, etc.. & can stay connected to the world.

The blind boys coming to The Baroda Association for the Blind are taught following professions.
The Baroda Association for the blind has Physiotherapy Section, well furnished AC Room having 7 beds & other instruments for physio treatment.
Daily in the evening, Eye specialist comes & check up eye patients with subsidized charges. They check for myopia, Cataract, Glaucoma, etc. The aim is to reduce blindness in society.
Professionals impart brail reading and writing techniques to the blind to enable them to enhance their knowledge of subjects they study and of news etc.
A special teacher is appointed to teach blind boys various Instruments like Sitar, Casio, Tabla, etc.. Our group of 5 blind boys are expert in singing Tabla Vaadan & Sitar playing.
The Baroda Association for the blind takes a keen interest in sports like Cricket for blind boys. It appoints an expert teacher of cricket to give coaching in the games to blind boys.
