To teach the computer to blind boys in a professional way, The Baroda Association for the Blind had inaugurated E-Computer Training Center on 01/05/17.

E-Computer Training Center:- There are 8 computers in AC furnished computer room. Nowadays, with the advent of text to speech technology, computers have become accessible to persons with vision impairment as well. With the help of voice output, a visually impaired person can easily work on Windows, MS Office, Internet, etc.. & can stay connected to the world. We have computers with screen reading software & other necessary peripherals. Our computer teaching methodology is based Upon both theory & practical. The following is the details for the course.

Eligibility Criteria:-

  • Any visually challenged.
  • A person who can understand English that is required to learn computer concepts.

What is in the course?

The course is aimed for visually challenged persons prepared to use a computer independently for their employment & personal use.

The course is run for 3 months, free accommodation & food is provided to all students. We use NVDA as our primary screen reader, Windows 10 as our operating system & Microsoft office 2010 for other office applications.

The following areas would be the main focus:-

Computer glossary, Hardware, and Software, Concepts of screen reader including NVDA, JAWS, Narrator, etc., Files & folder management, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Internet browsing, Finding & reading accessible books, Periodic workshops for using Android/IOS mobiles.
